Estonian artist Britta Benno is currently working at The Cotton Factory on Sherman Avenue North, as part of an artist exchange program. An international laureate and lecturer, Benno is a printmaker and visual artist utilizing a variety of techniques to create different perspectives. The Tallinn-based (Estonian) artist has exhibited and lectured across the globe, including Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Iceland, and Australia.
Her journey to Hamilton was arranged by the Hamilton Arts Council. At The Cotton Factory, Benno is collaborating with Smokestack Studio to create her art. Halfway through her five-week exchange, Benno has had a chance to see the city and local area, adding she likes the ‘vibe’ of both Hamilton and The Cotton Factory.
As part of the exchange, Hamilton artist Vanessa Crosbie-Ramsay will be travelling to and working in Estonia during November and December this year.
